How does Versa+ compare to other fillers?

If you have followed our lead injector’s Instagram page or have come in for a consultation with us in Edmond, chances are you have heard lots about Versa+, one of our favorite fillers. Since this product is newer to the U.S. market than many of the others like Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse, and Sculptra among others, we wanted to take a few moments to go over what makes it different from the rest.

Versa+ is part of the Revanesse collection of fillers. This line has been a huge hit in Canada for several years. It is also being used in over 80 countries worldwide. After gaining FDA approval for use in the United States in 2017, it is quickly becoming a front-runner in the filler game for various reasons: its unique product design and chemical (organic) makeup, and its lower incidence of unfavorable outcomes like nodules and swelling, cost to patient based on affordability to practice, being the only hyaluronic acid filler manufactured in a U.S. facility.

Ok! Enough with the boring history and more about Versa! Versa is a hyaluronic acid, or HA, a filler like the Juvederm and Restylane collections of fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a well-known word in the aesthetic and beauty worlds for its role in providing moisture. It is a naturally occurring, water-loving molecule in our bodies. Since hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in our bodies as an organic molecular chain, there is an enzyme that can reverse its effects or dissolve it. What does that mean for you? If you don’t like it or if there is a complication during or after injection, it can be reversed and the filler dissolved. Safety is just one of the important reasons we love Versa at The MAC.

Versa+ also has 50% less swelling associated than other hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm Ultra or some of the Restylane products. This is a big concern of some patients so Versa’s ability to lessen that anxiety is amazing for first-time filler patients and even some expert patients. It is important to note, however, that this can and should not be the deciding factor in a patient’s request for a particular product as a knowledgeable injector knows that there are MANY other factors to consider when helping a patient select the filler that will best meet their needs! That being said, probably 70% of our filler patients get Versa+ in their lips or nasolabial folds.

I know some of you heard me mention nodules earlier. If you are familiar with the world of fillers, you have probably seen a nodule on your friend’s lips or have experienced one yourself. While lumps and bumps are normal during the healing phase of filler, they should not be visible after your lips are fully healed. Nodules occur for numerous reasons whether it be the amount of pressure with which the filler is injected into the tissue or just naturally comes out of the syringe, the area the filler is injected into (too superficial or too deep), or the product’s design. Versa was designed with uniform, spherical particles that have less of a tendency to clump together. It is also a very viscous filler that allows for smooth injection.

Versa+ also offers a great combination of flexibility and support. You don’t want a thick, highly supportive product in your lips, right? Think bulky when talking...no! You also don’t want the thinnest product out there or you may not see the results you are hoping for. Versa provides volume while maintaining flexibility so it looks natural yet full when making expressions. This is CRITICAL in the lips and areas around your mouth!

I know you heard me mention that Versa+ is more affordable than some of the other fillers. While this is exciting and important, remember that your injector will help you decide which filler is BEST for your specific concerns. But….since we are on the topic, Revanesse offers a rewards app that gives you $50 off each syringe of filler. In addition to this, Versa is priced slightly lower than some of the other HA fillers because of the companies reduced cost to us as a practice. We save, you save!
