Hydrafacial vs. Spa Facial: What's the Difference?

If you follow us on social media you’ve probably seen lots of videos of our Signature Hydrafacial. It is by far one of our most popular treatments for both men and women as well as teens. It can even be performed on pregnant women. Before we break down the steps of a Signature Hydrafacial, we wanted to highlight the differences between a Hydrafacial and a spa facial.

While a spa facial provides numerous benefits, including improved blood flow to the skin tissues, hydration, exfoliation, and extractions, they are generally not as clinically effective in clearing pores of impurities and infusing hyaluronic acid directly into the skin. The benefits are generally not as long-lasting as those of a Hydrafacial. Spa facials are traditionally more relaxing, using a combination of oils, warm towels, massage, and other “feel-good” therapies. In contrast, a Signature Hydrafacial feels good and demonstrates significant clinical effectiveness in treating skin conditions.

Let’s break down the steps of the Hydrafacial.

With just three steps in under 30 minutes, you are on your way to the best skin of your life.

STEP ONE: CLEANSING

The first step of a signature Hydrafacial involves cleansing and a mild peel. It uncovers a new layer of skin with gentle exfoliation and relaxing resurfacing.

STEP TWO: EXTRACTION AND HYDRATION

Next, we move on to extractions and hydration. The vortex fusion design removes debris from pores with painless suction while the bad is being sucked out, the good is being infused in. Hyaluronic acid is infused until the point the skin will no longer absorb it to quench and hydrate giving you that signature Hydrafacial glow.

STEP THREE: PROTECT

Finally, we fuse and protect by saturating the skin surface with antioxidants and peptides to maximize the glow. We also use a combination of red or blue LED light therapy to target fine lines and wrinkles and destroy PE. Acnes bacteria. After the Hydrafacial is complete, your Aesthetician will apply a couple of our favorite ZO Skin Health products and a sunscreen to protect your investment.

Similar to a spa facial, the Signature Hydrafacial is performed in a bed with soft sheets and a nice blanket. The room lights are dimmed and we generally have aromatherapy and soothing music to help you relax. Patients often sleep through the procedure, but if you are interested in skincare, we can customize a regimen for you by discussing your skin concerns during the Hydrafacial.
