Advanced Intense Pulsed Light (Lumecca)
One of the classic hallmarks of health and beauty is blemish-free, youthful-looking skin. Lumecca IPL is the most advanced IPL on the market today and we’re proud to offer it at The MAC in Edmond, Oklahoma. With its sophisticated technology, Lumecca helps reverse the signs of skin damage, aging, and sun exposure through the use of maximum pulsed light power. The result? Superior results and impressive outcomes, leading to shorter overall treatment times and more visible results.
WHAT IS TREATMENT LIKE?
Thanks to Lumecca’s sapphire-cooling tip, treatments are safe, convenient, and comfortable. The device emits a bright flash of light that feels like a light elastic sensation. The skin will feel warm, similar to a sunburn, a fade over 24-48 hours. In the week afterwards the pigmented lesions flake off, leading to an evening out of skin tone. After treating vascular lesions you may see the vein blanch and disappear or a color change in the vessel which dissipates after a few days.
Avoiding direct, excessive sun exposure one month prior to treatment is recommended.
What areas can be treated?
Lumecca IPL can be used on all areas of the body. The most common areas of treatment are zones regularly exposed to the sun. These include the face, neck, décolletage, legs, hands, and arms.
In just 1-3 sessions, Lumecca can improve the appearance of:
Age Spots (red/brown pigmentation)
Sun Damage
Vascular Lesions (spider veins, etc.)
Rosacea (redness)
Freckles
HOW IS LUMECCA IPL DIFFERENT?
Lumecca IPL’s sophisticated technology makes it superior to any other IPL on the market. We perform the treatment using a unique hand piece with a xenon flash lamp. The flash lamp works by emitting precise wavelengths of light that heats the targeted tissue without affecting or damaging surrounding regions. This feature makes the treatment comfortable, versatile, and accurate since we can control the range of wavelengths produced.
WHAT SKIN TYPES CAN LUMECCA BE USED ON?
In darker skin types, traditional IPL is often not recommended. The reason is that the darker the pigment, the harder it is for a conventional laser to target and break them down. However, Lumecca’s advanced technology offers a wide range of wavelengths suitable for treating a variety of skin types and conditions.
How Long After LUMECCA Do You See Results?
After the first session, you should see visible improvements in your skin condition. The outcomes of the treatment are designed to keep on improving as you go through more sessions.
We’ll customize a treatment plan for you based on your skin types, cosmetic issues, and goals for the treatment. After several sessions, you should have the final result of the treatment, which is younger and brighter-looking skin.
Am I good candidate for LUMECCA?
Patients with uneven, sun-damaged skin are likely to be a good candidate for this type of treatment. Those who have rosacea will also see visible improvements and a reduction of their flare-ups after IPL treatment. However, people with tanned skin or who spend a lot of time in direct sunlight are not ideal candidates for IPL treatment. Additionally, if you’re taking Accutane, are pregnant, or have chronic health conditions, we may advise you to postpone the treatment or consider other options.
