Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet Rich Plasma, commonly known as PRP, is a therapy that uses injections of patient’s own concentrated platelets to improve the appearance of skin. At The MAC in Edmond, Oklahoma, we utilize Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections, naturally found in your bloodstream, to smooth and repair the skin and encourage the production of new collagen .

How does it work?

Prior to treatment, blood is drawn from the patient – similar to a lab draw. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge for about 9 minutes to separate the PRP from the blood itself. Using a needle, the PRP is injected into the desired treatment area, which then promotes healing as well as the regeneration of new collagen in the skin. Over time, the increased level of collagen can enhance the thickness and overall health of the skin.

We recommend a series of 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart.

Yes! You may combine PRP with Microneedling, which can be done at the same session to help boost results. PRP can also be done in conjunction with dermal fillers or neurotoxin injections.
